camp is Aug 16-18
The 2013 Big Island All-Stars Biddy Basketball Camp will be held Aug. 16-18 at the Panaewa Courts. It’s for boys and girls ages 5 to 8 and each session starts daily at 8:30 a.m. and runs until noon.
Cost is $40 and payable to Big Island All Stars, with “Biddy Basketball Camp” written in the memo line on your check. Applications are available from Kami Shigematsu at Panaewa Gym and completed forms can be mailed to Daphne Honma, P.O. Box 355, Paauilo, HI 96776, or turned in to Shigematsu at the gym.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 2 and only the first 90 applicants will be accepted. The fee includes instruction and a T-shirt. For more info, call Honma at 937-3223.
Waimea basketball
league hoops meeting
Waimea Parks and Recreation will have its 2013 Biddy Basketball coaches meeting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Waimea Community Center, and all returning coaches as well as those who would like to coach are asked to attend.
Registration (at a fee of $10) will be held Aug. 1-14 during office hours (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) or during clinic days. Basketball clinics will be held on Aug. 12-14 at Thelma Parker Gym (3:30-4:30 p.m., ages 5 and 6; 4:30-5:30 p.m., ages 7-8).
The league will run from Sept. 9-Oct. 16.

Mac Nut Tournament
at Hamakua C.C.
The Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company and Hamakua Country Club are hosting the third annual Mac Nut Tournament, with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 25.
According to a release, the “fun-for-all event brings golfers of all skill levels together in a quest for prizes by using a latex coated macadamia nut instead of the traditional golf ball.”
The scoring will be based on a Callaway system. The entry fee is $40 per player, which includes lunch and prizes.

Hilo basketball league
set for ages 8-10
An organizational meeting for an ages 8-10 basketball league will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 7 at Aunty Sally’s Luau House.
All teams should have a representative at the meeting to register their team and to pick up their packet.
